12-Mile Creek PCB Sediment Removal Project, South Carolina

Envirocon recently signed a Master Services Agreement with Schlumberger to provide field services for a design/build project to remove PCB-impacted sediment from a 1.5-mile long stretch of 1- Mile Creek. Envirocon's design partner for this project is Arcadis. The scope of work for the 12-Mile Creek project includes the construction of a PCB impacted sediment repository, removal of 400,000 yards of PCB-impacted sediment, stream bank restoration, removal of two historic dams, regulatory negotiations, public relations, and technical studies such as turbidity and Hex-6 sediment scour modeling.

During the design phase of the project, Envirocon will work with Arcadis to identify a location for the repository, determine the best way to excavate and transport the sediment from 12-Mile Creek to the repository, and provide constructability reviews and construction cost estimates. During the construction phase of the project, Arcadis will support Envirocon while the sediment repository is constructed, the sediment is removed from 12-Mile Creek, the two dams are demolished, and the stream banks are restored. Schlumberger anticipates that the design phase will largely be complete by August 2008 and Envirocon will be in field in September 2008. The 12-Mile Creek project is expected to be a two-year long effort.
