2010 Summer Interns

Beau Bronken (Colorado State University), Brian Kirk (Oklahoma State University), Stephen Keller (Colorado State University), Mikal Zemljak (Montana Tech of the University of Montana), and Carl Berg (Oregon State University) were chosen as this year’s Interns for Envirocon’s various resource centers

The students will spend the summer with their designated Sponsors/Mentor learning the ins and outs of both field operations and corporate support functions, as well as developing and presenting a specific results-based project aimed at improving project success.

“I’m looking forward to the opportunities I will have this summer to gain experience with Envirocon both in the office and in the field,” says Berg, a Civil Engineering major from Oregon State University who will be working out of Envirocon’s Western Resource Center in Portland, Oregon.

First however, Berg and his fellow Interns traveled to Missoula to meet Envirocon’s corporate management staff including but not limited to, Envirocon’s CEO/President, Chief Operating Officer, Director of Human Resources, Director of Operations, Director of Health & Safety, Director of Contracts, Director of Estimating, and Equipment Manager to gain hands-on experience and perspective of the various divisions that make up Envirocon’s corporate structure.

Next, Interns will work at a specific job site where they have a direct supervisor as well as Sponsor/Mentor, who will meet with them weekly to review progress, answer questions, and provide both feedback and coaching.

In addition to the day-to-day responsibilities of the project, the Interns will also be assigned a results-based project that will conclude with a presentation to their respective resource center staff. Examples of these projects may include Quality Control, Survey Interface, Project Scheduling, Budget Preparation, Trucking Optimization, Finance Tracking, Cost Accounting, etc.

“Envirocon is excited to continue with the formalized intern program that we started last summer. By providing students with real-life job experiences and projects in the field, as well as exposure to the various corporate functions, our interns will have a meaningful and productive summer. Our goal is to create a pipeline of talent in which we can eventually recruit from after our interns have graduated,” says Envirocon Director of Human Resources, Nina Lund.
