Envirocon Removes Denver Landmark

On June 17, 2008 Envirocon permanently changed the Denver skyline by demolishing the familiar red and white checkerboard water tower that was located at Rocky Mountain Arsenal (RMA) for over 50 years. The 150-foot high steel tower was brought down as part of a comprensive cleanup program at RMA where Envirocon has been providing services for the past 10 years. How was the tower brought down….

"The water tower has served as an Arsenal landmark for decades, " said the U. S. Army Program Manager. "The demolition is a visual sign of the immense progress made at the Arsenal as we approach the final transformation of the site into a premier urban national wildlife refuge."

The water tower was constructed in 1953 and was designed to provide water storage for manufacturing activities. Most recently it was used in the Arsenal's reseeding program to supply water to native grasses.

Envirocon has successfully completed 25 projects with a total value in excess of $117 million since mobilization to RMA in 1998. Envirocon has also tallied 2.0 million safe work hours to date.
