New York Times Highlights Milltown Project in River Restoration Story
On May 27th, Envirocon was featured in a story on river restoration in the Science section of the New York Times. Montana based journalist, Jim Robbins, was present for the breach of the Milltown Dam in March 2008 and was inspired to cover the topic of river restoration and its positive impact on the environment. Robbins spoke with project personnel and Montana environmental officials to create a piece that focused on the environmentally sensitive methods contractors such as Envirocon use to restore rivers and ensure that land, water, and wildlife in the area are protected. Envirocon's Senior Project Director Matt Fein explained the breach to Robbins saying, "We had to do it slowly because we had to control the scour." Robbins has spoke with Fein several times since talk of the multi-million dollar remediation project began in 2005. Fein was recently contacted by the New York Times "Topics" section to be referenced as an expert in the "Dams and Dikes" topic section as a follow up to his interview. The story can be found on the New York Times website which reaches over 143,488,000 people world wide.
