Washington Foundation Hires New CEO & President
The Dennis and Phyllis Washington Foundation (the Foundation) has announced that Deborah Doyle McWhinney has been hired as CEO and President of the Foundation. Ms. McWhinney's extensive financial services and management background, combined with her leadership skills, will add expertise to the management of the Foundation as it moves forward. "My goal will be to build on the vision of Dennis and Phyllis Washington to maximize the return on investment the Foundation makes in people," said Deborah McWhinney. "The human need is out there and we must not only seek to do more but to do it better. The Foundation has a 20-year history of giving back and I look forward to this opportunity and to being part of an organization with such a unique ability to affect peoples' lives through meaningful change," said McWhinney. Before joining the Dennis and Phyllis Washington Foundation, McWhinney spent 30 years in the banking and securities industry. She retired in 2007 from Charles Schwab where she was President and Executive Vice President of Charles Schwab Institutional. She recently chaired the University of Montana's Invest in Discovery campaign that concluded in 2007 with a record $131 million raised.
The Dennis and Phyllis Washington Foundation was founded in 1988 and is supported through contributions from the Washington Companies (Envirocon) and from personal donations by the Washington family. Its philanthropic focus includes: arts and culture, education, health and human services and community service. The Dennis and Phyllis Washington Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the Washington Companies.
