Past Mining Activities Keep Envirocon Working in Montana
Envirocon was recently awarded the RDU 7 project near Anaconda, MT which involves large scale remediation of 870 acres of property impacted by historic mining activities. Approximately 500 acres of the site requires surface removal of the top 6 – 12” of material for disposal at a nearby repository. Large scale dozer stripping, followed by off-road haul trucks, will be used to consolidate and transport the material to a repository 5 miles to the east of the site. Once at the repository, the material will be spread in lifts between 24” & 48” and re-vegetated by the owner. The site is divided by a small creek which will require Envirocon to construct a temporary haul bridge to allow access to the northern portion of the site. Once excavation and hauling are underway, final re-vegetation will follow close behind. Re-vegetation requires adding lime as needed, organic matter incorporation, fertilizing and finally seeding. With a fall 2009 mobilization, the project is scheduled to continue through the winter with completion mid-summer 2010.
