Envirocon Welcomes 2011 Interns
Envirocon is pleased to welcome our 2011 summer interns. These six students will spend the summer learning the all aspects of the environmental remediation and construction industry. The focus of the summer internships is to allow the students to perform in areas such as: engineering, project management, field operations, health & safety procedures, and corporate support functions.
After traveling to the corporate headquarters in Missoula, Montana to meet executive staff and upper-level management, the interns moved on to their respective regional offices to begin working with the operations staff to gain hands on experience on project-related work functions.
Next, the interns will perform tasks at specific jobsites. Here, they have a direct supervisor as well as a sponsor/mentor, who will meet with them weekly to review progress, answer questions, and provide both feedback and coaching.
“This is a great learning and work experience. I get to apply what I have been taught in school to real jobsites, and then apply the new knowledge I have gained at Envirocon, when I return to school,” said West Coast Operations Intern, Matt Swavey.
In addition to their day-to-day on site responsibilities, the interns will also be assigned a results-based project that will conclude with a presentation to each respective regional office. Examples of these projects may include quality control, survey interface, project scheduling, budget preparation, trucking optimization, finance tracking, cost accounting etc. This allows the interns to apply their individual knowledge, as well as insight and feedback from their time in the field, to help Envirocon improve its processes.
