Section 36 Lime Basin Barrier Wall Project, Rocky Mountain Arsenal, Colorado
Envirocon was recently awarded the Section 36 Lime Basin Barrier Wall Project at Rocky Mountain Arsenal. This work consists of the construction of an approximately 2,000-foot long by 45-foot deep slurry/barrier wall using a 6-foot auger deep soil mixing (DSM) rig. This in-situ barrier wall technique was chosen over conventional slurry wall methods based on the possibility of encountering chemical warfare material. As part of this work, Envirocon is to construct operating benches, containment berms and other site developments using over 20,000 cubic yards of fill obtained from an on-site borrow area. Since 1998, Envirocon has successfully performed more than 20 projects at Rocky Mountain Arsenal.
