Envirocon Participates in OSHA’s 2017 National Safety Stand-Down

At Envirocon, Safety is our highest priority, every day and on every job. It is our responsibility to keep the men and women of our company safe. As part of educating our employees and embodying our “Work Safe, Home Safe” culture, Envirocon is participating in the National Safety Stand-Down.

Each year, the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) selects a week in the Spring to focus on a safety topic. This year’s focus is fall prevention in construction and takes place May 8-12. Each Envirocon project team and office is participating in this event by stopping work and discussing potential fall scenarios and how to incorporate safe actions to prevent them. This includes developing rescue plans, inspecting safety equipment, or discussing job specific hazards.

OSHA research has found that in 2015 alone, over 350 construction workers suffered a fatal fall. In many cases, these fatal falls were 15 feet or less above the ground. Since falls are the leading cause of injuries and fatalities in the construction industry, OSHA recommends the following steps in preventing falls:

  1. PLAN ahead to get the job done safely.
  2. PROVIDE the right equipment.
  3. TRAIN everyone to use the equipment safely.
