‘Tis the Season: Giving from the Heart

For many of us, this time of year brings to mind images of families gathered around cozy fireplaces, beautifully decorated trees, snowball fights, and endless mugs of hot cocoa. As we gather together with our families and reminisce of the year gone by, many individuals and families still struggle. Envirocon’s project teams wanted to spread the joy this holiday season and give back to those less fortunate in our communities.

Envirocon has multiple project teams across the Tennessee Valley. They came together to collect toys and other donations for various family centers in the area. Program Manager Andrew Simmons thoughtfully asked at the beginning of the drive for people to “Give from your hearts” and was proud of all the crews for taking part. Donations were made to the Family Safety Center in Memphis, TN and the Family Resource Center for Muhlenberg County, KY. So many children in the area will be excited to receive these gifts.

Out of our corporate headquarters in Missoula, MT, the Dennis & Phyllis Washington Foundation selected 79 food banks, food pantries, rescue missions and homeless shelters across Montana to receive additional grant funds to aid them in helping Montana’s most vulnerable citizens. In Montana, 1 in 9 people struggle with hunger and 1 in 6 Montana children live in homes that face food insecurity, putting them at risk of hunger. Mike Halligan, Executive Director of the Foundation, stated, “Our goal with this extra donation is to get badly needed resources into the hands of the staff and volunteers of these critically important organizations in order to meet the food and shelter needs of our fellow Montanans.” The full article can be read here: Foundation News – 2019 Holiday Giving
