History

In 1988, Dennis Washington started Envirocon to serve the growing demand for environmental remediation, building on the Washington Companies’ expertise in heavy construction and strong organizational resources.

In 1992, Envirocon was awarded its first government project by the USACE at Luke Air Force Base in Arizona. The company purchased its first piece of yellow iron in 1993 and completed its first oil and gas project in 1994. By 1995, Envirocon was awarded a six-year residential remediation project in West Chicago, IL –its largest award to date, first major radiological project, and furthest east work location.

In 1996, Envirocon secured its first DOE radiological project at the Hanford Nuclear Site. By 1999, revenue had grown supported by work at Rocky Mountain Arsenal and the company’s first east coast project in Edison, NJ.

In 2001, Envirocon began the Casper Refinery project, one of its largest projects at the time. By 2003, the company completed the Milltown Dam Superfund project, excavating 2.2 million cubic yards of material.

From 2004 to 2006, Envirocon expanded capabilities with self-performed dredging and multiple aluminum smelter demolition projects.

Between 2007 and 2012, the company achieved record man hours, grown revenue, expanded its equipment fleet, and completed a major dredging and shoreline restoration project in downtown Seattle.

Since 2017, Envirocon has continued large-scale remediation, including a uranium mine project near Wellpinit, Washington, and a six-year mine reclamation project in Stoney Creek, Virginia awarded in 2020.
