2018 OSHA National Safety Stand-Down – Fall Prevention

Once again, Envirocon will take part in OSHA’s National Safety Stand-Down to Prevent Falls in Construction. This event takes place from May 7-11, and is an opportunity for Envirocon employees to discuss fall protection and overall safety on the jobsite.

Fatalities caused by falls from elevation continue to be a leading cause of death for construction employees, accounting for 370 of the 991 construction fatalities recorded in 2016 (BLS data). Many of these deaths were preventable, as 37% were from a height of 15 feet or less.  The National Safety Stand-Down raises fall hazard awareness across the country in an effort to stop fall fatalities and injuries.

How does the Safety Stand-Down Work?

Any workplace can hold a stand-down by taking a break to focus on Fall Hazards and reinforcing the importance of Fall Prevention. Envirocon tailored this Stand-Down specifically for its workers, focusing on fall prevention for equipment they use every day. This includes ladders, haul trucks, aerial lifts, and other equipment. It also serves an opportunity for Envirocon employees to bring to light other potential hazards they encounter on the job site.

To prevent falls, OSHA recommends the following steps:

PLAN ahead to get the job done safely.
PROVIDE the right equipment.
TRAIN everyone to use the equipment safely.
